WIPNYC was launched in June of 2008 by Amy Elkins and Cara Phillips. As an internet-based project, WIPNYC is an outlet to exhibit work outside of the traditional model of the commercial art world, allowing it to reach a global audience. Mixing emerging photographers with artists that have achieved high levels of success within fine art and commercial worlds, the project is designed to be a resource for photographers, editors, curators, gallery owners, and viewers alike to discover and enjoy the work of female artists. Exhibitions are bi-monthly and include artists both selected from an open submission and those sought out to participate. WIPNYC presents a solo exhibition of work from select photographers every other Tuesday of the month.
Co-curated by Amy Elkins and Cara Phillips, Women in Photography is a project of Humble Arts Foundation.
