Arte Amazonia A unique look at one of the world oldest indigenous cultures of the the Venezuelan and Brazilian Amazon and their beautiful baskets. The Yanomami culture has endured thousands of years in the jungles of the Amazon. Thier handicraft and baskets are beautifully made by the women of their tribes. They are used for everyday uses as in the gathering of food and cooking. Displayed are the round Yanomami Shotos (shallow baskets) and Carrying Baskets which are colored with onoto and then decorated with charcoal with various geometric designs. The designs appear often as dots, circles, lines, and waves in a variety of combinations. These beautiful baskets are 100% organic, 100% sustainable and are an integral part of their culture. Timeless pieces of art!
